PT-141 (Bremelanotide) in Orlando

People use PT-141 to bring back sexual desire and arousal. Viagra and Cialis help blood flow; PT-141 works in the brain, on the pathways that create wanting in the first place, which is why both women and men use it. You take it only when you want it, not every day.

How It Works

Why PT-141 works differently

Most sexual-health prescriptions work below the waist. PT-141 works on melanocortin receptors in the brain that drive sexual motivation: the interest, anticipation and arousal that come before the physical response. For anyone whose desire has faded, that’s the part a blood-flow pill can’t reach.

It started with a surprise. Researchers at the University of Arizona were developing a tanning peptide and noticed an unexpected effect in their volunteers. PT-141 is the refined version of that molecule, closed into a ring, which is why the chain at the top of this page loops back on itself.

Women & Men

Who uses PT-141

Women

Bremelanotide was FDA-approved in 2019, as the brand-name Vyleesi, for premenopausal women whose desire has dropped and stayed low. Postmenopausal women use it too, often alongside hormone therapy when desire fades with menopause.

Men

Men use PT-141 when the interest isn’t there, or when Viagra or Cialis isn’t enough on its own. Early studies in men found it improved erectile response, and because it works in the brain, it complements those pills instead of duplicating them.

Getting Started

From first visit to first dose

01

Private consult

A one-on-one visit with Dr. St. Marie about what’s changed and what you want back. We check your blood pressure and heart history, and look at hormones, thyroid, sleep and medications that can dampen desire.

02

Your prescription

If PT-141 fits, you leave knowing exactly how to use it: a small injection under the skin, about 45 minutes ahead, whenever you choose.

03

Fine-tuning

After your first few uses we adjust dose and timing, and pair it with hormone care if your labs call for it.

Mild nausea, flushing or a headache can come with the first dose and usually eases as your body adjusts, so we walk you through that first dose before you take it. PT-141 isn’t prescribed with uncontrolled blood pressure, heart disease, pregnancy or oral naltrexone, one more reason every plan starts with a visit.

PT-141 Questions

PT-141 for men, timing, and what to expect

Does PT-141 work for men?

Many men use it, especially when low interest is the issue or when ED pills aren’t enough on their own. Early clinical studies in men showed improved erectile response, and Dr. St. Marie tailors the dose and timing to you.

How fast does PT-141 work?

Take it at least 45 minutes before intimacy. It’s used as needed, up to once in 24 hours, not as a daily medication.

Is PT-141 the same as Vyleesi?

PT-141 is the original research name for bremelanotide, the active ingredient in the brand-name drug Vyleesi. The bremelanotide we prescribe is compounded for you by a licensed pharmacy. Compounded medications aren’t FDA-approved, and compounding lets your dose be tailored to you.

What about PT-141 nasal spray?

A small injection under the skin is the form studied in the clinical trials and gives the most consistent dose, so it’s the form we recommend.

Can I take it with Viagra or Cialis?

Some men do, since they work on different systems: PT-141 on desire, the pills on blood flow. Both affect blood pressure, so we set up the combination with you.

Can PT-141 be combined with oxytocin?

Sometimes, yes. Oxytocin is a hormone involved in closeness and connection, and Dr. St. Marie pairs it with PT-141 for some patients. Whether the combination fits you is something we decide together at your visit.

What are the side effects?

The most common are nausea, mostly with the first dose, plus flushing and headache. Blood pressure rises a little for a few hours after a dose, which is why we check yours first.

Is PT-141 covered by insurance?

The practice doesn’t bill commercial insurance, and compounded PT-141 generally isn’t covered by insurance plans. You’ll know the full cost before you start.

Bremelanotide is FDA-approved as Vyleesi for low sexual desire in premenopausal women. The bremelanotide prescribed here is compounded by a licensed pharmacy, and compounded medications aren’t FDA-approved. Care here is elective and isn’t intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent disease. Every patient reviews informed consent before starting. See all peptides.
